The shared coaching lens

Different disciplines.
Four readiness signals.

Tennis, basketball and dance each have specialist pathways. The language below helps families understand what meaningful progress looks like across all three.

01

Control

Can the student repeat the movement or skill with purposeful quality?

02

Movement

Can they organise their body, balance and positioning for the demands of the current stage?

03

Decisions

Can they recognise what is happening and choose an appropriate next action with less prompting?

04

Independence

Can they carry routines, confidence and responsibility into practice, play or performance?

The 36-lesson review cycle

Practice creates evidence.
Evidence guides progression.

A review point is not automatic promotion. It is the moment to look at what is repeatable, what still needs support and which environment will help next.

  1. 01
    PLACE

Choose the right place to begin.

Age, experience, current ability, goals and availability shape the first recommendation.

  2. 02
    BUILD

    Train the foundations with purpose.

Coaching connects individual skills to movement, decisions and the real demands of the discipline.

  3. 03
    OBSERVE

    Look for repeatable performance.

One successful attempt is encouraging; readiness appears when quality can be repeated with growing independence.

  4. 04
    REVIEW

    Choose the next challenge.

After 36 lessons, the review identifies progress, remaining priorities and the appropriate way forward.

What families should understand

An answer families can use
for what comes next.

01

Why this level?

The placement should match the student’s current readiness and offer a meaningful challenge.

02

What are we building?

The pathway should make the current technical, movement and decision priorities understandable.

03

What shows readiness?

Progression should reflect consistent performance and growing independence, not attendance alone.

04

Where can they go?

The next step may be a new level, a stronger playing environment or more focused work at the current stage.
